The construction of the new Wels-Pernau logistics terminal provides the international transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss with a modern, high-tech centre in Upper Austria equipped with an ideal infrastructure for efficient logistics projects.
Increased demands from the market and from customers coupled with outdated and cramped conditions in the present premises have made modernisation a necessary step. In just eleven months, offices as well as handling and warehouse spaces covering an area of approximately 12,480 m² have been erected on the 88,500 m² site in Wels-Pernau. The construction costs amounted to a total of 9.3 million euros. The move into the new logistics buildings, located immediately next to an Austrian national railway link and the Inntal motorway (A8), took place at the end of July, giving access to both 4,200 m² of high racks and 1,180 m² of state-of-the-art office space. Relocation will be completed by the end of the year. The Wels-Pernau logistics centre forms the perfect base for building further on the strong market position of Gebrüder Weiss in Upper Austria. The overall planning of the terminal has been scheduled over the course of the next ten years; the site can accommodate further construction levels. ”The new terminal gives us a clear competitive advantage when it comes to speed and quality,” says Graßer.
